Since 2013, Feedback Organic has been at the forefront of transforming urban food systems through sustainable practices. Operating across multiple cities, we engage a broad network of stakeholders from community groups, academia, government, and industry to champion circular food solutions. Our mission integrates these partnerships to minimise food waste, connect societies with urban agriculture, and enhance environmental stewardship, aiming for resilient, sustainable communities in line with global sustainability objectives. Through engaging in the recovery of urban food waste for resource creation, alongside executing circular food systems via collaborations, we’re redefining urban agriculture’s role in sustainability education and green space development.
Board Members’ skills and attributes
To ensure that the Board has the right balance of skills and values to effectively lead the organisation into the future, Feedback Organic Ltd is calling for Expressions of Interest from members with suitable experience for election at the upcoming AGM in March 2024.
There are currently three (3) Board Members. We are seeking to elect three (3) new board members at the 2024 AGM from the Feedback Organic membership for 3-year terms of office.
Feedback Organic is on the lookout for dynamic individuals to join our Board of Directors during a crucial phase of consolidation and future growth. We’re seeking hands-on board members ready to actively steer the organisation through strategic developments and expansion efforts. Ideal candidates will have a profound commitment to environmental sustainability, social causes, and climate action, aligning closely with Feedback Organic’s vision and values as outlined in our strategic documentation.
By joining Feedback Organic’s Board, you’ll play a key role in amplifying our impact on urban sustainability and food systems, championing innovative solutions, and collaborating towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Through reviewing the current composition of the Board, and the strategic priorities of the organisation, we are particularly interested in Board Members who have expertise in the following areas:
● Fundraising – expertise and networks within the philanthropic and government funding sectors to assist the organisation to diversify its income streams.
● Accounting – solid accounting experience to act as Treasurer and advise on financial management practices, monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation and oversee the development of an annual budget.
● Strategic Marketing – expertise in strategic and digital marketing to enhance Feedback Organic’s online presence, refine our messaging, and effectively engage our digital audience to amplify our mission for urban sustainability.
Board member responsibilities
Board Members have broad governance responsibilities as outlined in the Corporations Act (2001) and the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Act (2012).
In meeting these requirements, board members are expected to contribute to:
- Strategic Oversight: Contribute to shaping Feedback Organic’s direction, ensuring alignment with our mission to create scalable, community-centric food systems.
- Expertise in Governance: Offer guidance in organisational strategy, policy development, and management, ensuring robust governance structures.
- Financial Acumen: Bring knowledge in accounting and finance to oversee and advise on the organisation’s financial health and sustainability.
- Legal and Risk Management: Provide insights into legal frameworks and risk management strategies to safeguard the organisation’s interests.
- Fundraising and Environmental Insight: Utilise networks and expertise to bolster fundraising efforts and embed environmental expertise within our strategic planning.
- Community Engagement: Lead initiatives that drive social change and engage communities in our mission.
- Active Participation: Be prepared for a hands-on role, contributing time, skills, and passion to actively participate in board duties and organisational development.
Meetings and time commitment
The Feedback Organic Board convenes monthly for 2-hour meetings, predominantly online, with strategy and committee sessions scheduled separately. Board members should anticipate dedicating 5-6 hours monthly to these responsibilities. This entails a proactive approach, with directors expected to lead initiatives, leveraging their expertise to guide Feedback Organic’s direction. Such commitment ensures our strategic objectives are continuously aligned and achieved through collaborative leadership and expert input.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for election or appointment as a Board Member (Director) of Feedback Organic Ltd, you must:
● Be a member of Feedback Organic (if not already a Feedback Organic Member, you must complete your membership application by the closing date of the EOI.)
● Not be ineligible to be a director under the Corporations Act or the ACNC Act.
Nomination process
The nomination process consists of submission of an expression of interest (EOI), an interview with the Chair and Founder, followed by the submission of a formal nomination to the Chair.
Expressions of Interest should be emailed to christina@feedbackorganic.com.au and consist of:
- A brief governance-focused CV.
- A brief cover letter addressed to the Chairperson.
- In your cover letter, please give consideration to:
- Your relationship to Feedback Organic and your commitment to the organisation’s purpose and strategy
- Your governance experience across all areas
- Governance or related experience in the identified areas of fundraising, accounting, or strategic marketing.
- Your ability and willingness to commit 5-6 hours per month, with flexibility for additional project-based contributions and to be an actively contributing board member.
- How you can contribute to a collaborative and collegial Board culture.

- 5pm Monday 11th March 2024 – deadline for submission of Expressions of Interest (EOI) and Feedback Organic membership application (if not already a member)
- Weeks of 18th and 25th March 2024 – Interviews with Chair and Founder
- 5pm Friday 5th April 2024 – deadline for submission of official nominations
- 7pm Thursday 11th April 2024 – Annual General Meeting and appointment of new Board Members
