Pitch:Propagate Rules and Guidelines
Overview
Pitch:Propagate will provide two teams with access to a 2 month mentorship with Feedback Organic (or other suitable mentors) and $3,000 in project funding to develop and deliver an innovative new food waste avoidance project targeting 18-34 year olds during April – June 2022.
Eligibility
Teams can comprise individuals or up to five people. Individuals must be a current University of Newcastle (UoN) student. Teams must include at least one current UoN student. All team members must be aged between 18-34 years old.
Participation
Participants agree to take part in Pitch:Propagate in an open and respectful manner.
A team can submit only one application.

Pitch No 1:
Fill out the registration form on the Feedback Organic website’s Pitch:Propogate Register page (https://feedbackorganic.com.au/pitchpropagate/register).
Create a link from YouTube or Vimeo to a video of no more than 3-minutes duration that outlines your project and its proposed outcomes.
Due midnight Friday 25 March 2022.
Pitch No 2:
Shortlisted candidates will present pitches in a second round on Thursday 7 April in person in Newcastle (10 min pitch plus 10 min questions from panelists).
Judging
All entries will be judged by the Pitch:Propagate Judging Panel against the following assessment criteria:
- Clarity of Problem: Ability to clearly describe the part of the problem the team is looking to address.
- Clearly articulate and demonstrate how their food waste avoidance project will encourage positive behaviour change
- Action plan: Clearly articulate next steps and how the funding will be used
- Deliverability of pilot within a 2 month time frame
- Potential for financial viability of your idea
- Scale of potential impact on food waste avoidance
Two winning projects will be selected by the panel of industry experts.
Final arbiter is the Pitch:Propagate Judging Panel whose decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into. This is a competition of skill. Chance plays no part in this competition.
All Teams selected to receive funding will require the Team Lead to liaise with and provide their details to the Organisers following funding announcements. They will be responsible for ensuring that all spending of funds is reported as required.
Use of Funds
The Funds provided may only be used for the purpose of delivering on the Project outlined in the Pitch. Funds cannot be used to reimburse any expenses incurred prior to the awarding of the Grant.
Funds can be used for the purchase of equipment so long as the assets are used exclusively for the Project during the term of the grant and the cost of any single item does not exceed $1000 ex GST.
Funds may not be used to pay for indirect costs eg:
- Salaries/wages and related benefits
- General office supplies (Eg pens, paper etc)
- Phone plans
- Travel costs (eg airfares, meals, lodging)
Intellectual Property
Feedback Organic makes no claim over the intellectual property (IP) generated by you as part of Pitch:Propagate provided your use of the IP acknowledges that the IP was developed as part of Pitch:Propagate (unless it is unreasonable to do so).
Teams may request the assistance of Feedback Organic to commercialise the IP noting that Feedback Organic is entitled to recover the costs of any assistance.
Photography and Video
Participants agree to participate in a short video to document the project.
I give permission for my image to be taken, used and reproduced in any format. I understand my image may be used for publicity and in promotional materials by Feedback Organic.
Likely use, but not limited to: Feedback Organic publications and documents, e-enewsletters, website, social media channels, advertising, Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) website, social media channels and for other publicity.
Privacy
Feedback Organic respects your right to privacy. We take all reasonable steps to comply with relevant legislation when handling information about you.
We do not pass any information collected about you to third parties and do not sell or rent personal information to anyone and we take steps to ensure that it is stored securely.Your data privacy is important to us.
