Winter Open Day
Such a great day it was! So good to see everyone come out and spend some time at the Feedback farm. With the weather just perfect, it was great to introduce (and reintroduce to our rockin’ regulars) our urban farm concept here in Newcastle, NSW. Feedback is a fairly unique community farm, one in which we both collect and compost food waste- while also growing vegetables (and delivering) within a small growing area. All here in the heart of the city of Newcastle.
Now, we are biased, but we reckon it’s a pretty amazing sustainable model- a method that really is growing our community’s food future.
So what is an Urban Farm?
“…the practice of cultivating, processing, and distributing food in or around urban areas.” That’s the Wiki version anyway. Which certainly does give a good little snapshot for someone unfamiliar with the word. But what is our version? What’s the Feedback Organic definition of an urban farm? In particularly our URBAN FARM here in Newcastle?
It looks a little like this, well it did on Sunday at our Winter Open Day. (For those that are keen our next date for our August Open Day has been set and you can now purchase tickets via eventbrite.)
Are you coriander keen and would love to know the secret of David’s now quite famous coriander dip? Here it is, possibly one of the easiest and tastiest ways to serve up coriander. Let us know what you think!
